Poorly written CNN article on Lu

After Annette Lu announced her candidacy, AP wrote and CNN published an article about her online.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) -- Taiwan's outspoken vice president, whom China has called "insane" and the "scum of the nation," said Tuesday she was campaigning to be the island's first female president.
Well, that's not a very flattering opening paragraph. And it doesn't have much to do with her or her campaign, if you ask me. But as usual, Taiwan is seen through Chinese lenses by the wire services.

Update: I've heard the AP article is taken from an article written by Liu Jiayan (劉佳雁), a Chinese Singaporian scholar who has written about Taiwan's constitutional reform. Here's a picture of him (on the right) at a Xinhua function to discuss the Anti-succession law. I'm having trouble confirming that story. Will update again if I figure it out. Either way, it makes more sense to suggest AP got more or less duped into running the article than to say they hate Annette Lu.

Lu is asking for an apology.
Taipei- (DPA) Taiwan's Vice President Annette Lu, angry at being called "insane" and "scum of the nation" in a CNN broadcast quoting an attack by China, demanded an apology Tuesday and indicated she may seek damages.
"The vice president is shocked that CNN reported her running for president using the headline Taiwan's 'scum of the nation' runs for president. She finds it a big insult to herself, who was elected by the Taiwan people, and to Taiwan people's dignity," Lu's office said.
I think an apology is in order.
